Requirements of a Peer Educator

PEER EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• Attend 80% of the meetings.
• All training, retreats, etc. are mandatory.
• Must maintain 2.5 GPA.

Peer Educators are:

• On good standing with the university.
• Leaders in promoting health/wellness on our campus and community.
• A role-model for our peers.
• Dedicated, passionate, non-judgmental, and open minded.
• Team players working together towards a common goal.

Value and know my role as a peer educator

• Grant individuals with respect and dignity.
• Strive to understand diversity in all its forms.

Value and know my role as a caring helper

• Offer opportunities for people to explore thoughts and feelings.
• Offer myself as a link between students and professional services on campus.
• Maintain confidentiality.

Value and know my role as an educator

• Learn as much as possible about the issues that affect my peers.
• Complete my commitments (staff meetings, program requirements, training).

Value and know my role as an individual

• Understand that my primary responsibility is to myself.

Value and know my role as a role model

• Make decisions in my own life that are positive and healthy.
• Challenge myself to continue my own physical, mental, and emotional growth.

Value and know my role as a contributing group member

• Work together on awareness events and group presentation opportunities.
• Perform community service to help make my community a better place to live.
